The Los Angeles Fire Department Historical Society (LAFDHS) is a museum located in Hollywood and San Pedro, California. The museum aims to preserve the history of the Los Angeles Fire Department and educate visitors about its significant contributions. They have two locations, the Hollywood Museum on N. Cahuenga Blvd and the Harbor Museum on S. Harbor Blvd. The LAFDHS offers an immersive experience for visitors, showcasing historical artifacts, photos, and videos. They have designated areas for kids and educational purposes, such as the Kids Room and Education Room. In addition, the museum offers special events and off-hour tours for schools upon request. COVID-19 protocols are followed, including limiting the number of visitors, requiring face coverings, maintaining physical distance, and providing hand sanitizer. The children's play area is temporarily closed for safety. The LAFDHS also has a memorial section dedicated to honoring retired Assistant Chief Frank W. Borden and offers the opportunity for individuals to purchase memorial brick pavers. To support the museum, individuals can become members, donate, or volunteer. The LAFDHS is a nonprofit organization, and all contributions go towards preserving the rich history of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
